About Year One
Meet Jenna
My passion for teaching started as a young girl when I would assemble a class of stuffed animal students to teach in my family's basement. Once I finally got to go to school, I just fell in love with it. I was always volunteering to help my teachers pass out papers or organize their classrooms. Teaching was always my career goal, and I can't believe I have my own classroom now!
I’m excited to bring you inside my classroom in rural Indiana with 26 lively third-graders on Year One!

As a CNN journalist turned That’s Total Mom Sense podcast host and mother of three, I aim to give credit where it's often overlooked—the lasting impact of parenting. And here on Year One, I want to shine the light on the people who are also helping to raise the next generation: teachers.
Carnegie Learning is a leading provider of K-12 education technology, curriculum, and professional learning solutions. For more than 25 years, we’ve channeled our leading research into tools and technology that champion teachers and build lifelong learners. We created Year One to provide educators a sense of connection and renew their enthusiasm for teaching. By shining a light on the very real issues faced in today's classrooms, we aim to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for the invaluable work teachers do every day.
