Problem Solving Models
The goal of our instructional resources is to provide you with opportunities to develop the processes and skills to become successful problem solvers and use mathematics efficiently and effectively in daily life. The TEKS Mathematical Process Standards describe how you should engage with mathematics content each year in your mathematics education. Process Standard 1B specifically states that students should be expected to use a problem-solving model that incorporates analyzing given information, formulating a plan or strategy, determining a solution, justifying the solution, and evaluating the problem-solving process and the reasonableness of the solution. We have developed the Carnegie Learning Problem-Solving Model to assist you in developing and demonstrating this specific process standard.
