MATHia: Letter to Families & Caregivers
Dear Parent/Guardian,
We have something in common – we both want the best for your child. This year, we’ll be using MATHia Software, a powerful 1-to-1 tutoring technology from Carnegie Learning’s Texas Math Solutions that is available 24/7 to help your student. MATHia was built from cognitive science research and looks at every aspect of the student's work to better understand where they are and what they're thinking. It doesn't just tell students what they got wrong, it helps them understand why they got it wrong. Your student will have a completely personalized experience, tailored specifically to their needs.
When assisting with homework, you can further support your student’s learning by asking questions about the work they do. Here are some helpful questions to ask:
- How does this problem look like something you’ve done with your teacher or classmates?
- Can you show me the strategy you used to solve this problem? Do you know another way to solve it?
- Does your answer make sense? Why?
- Is there anything you don’t understand? How can you use your notes and work from class to help?
I’m excited to take this journey with you and your student. Please visit the Carnegie Learning’s Texas Support Center website for helpful “Getting Started” videos, articles and how-to guides, and let me know if you have any questions throughout the year.
