Enhanced Assessments Overview
Enhanced assessments consist of STAAR-aligned multiple-choice questions, open-response questions, and griddable response questions for each topic of each course. Mid-Topic Enhanced Assessments exist for longer topics and for topics with a significant amount of content. Each Enhanced Assessment is aligned to the TEKS of the topic, however, not all supporting TEKS may be assessed, including those identified as unassessed TEKS in Grades 6 through Algebra I. The goal is for each Enhanced Assessment to be completed in one 45-minute session.
Each Enhanced End of Topic Assessment consists of a total of 15 - 20 questions:
- Part A: Multiple-Choice Questions: There are 3 - 6 multiple-choice questions on each End of Topic Assessment.
- Part B: Open-Response Questions: This section covers the remaining question count.
- Part C: Griddable Response Questions: There are 1 - 3 griddable response questions, if applicable, on each End of Topic Assessment. If the content of the topic does not best align with the griddable response question type, then this question type does not exist on the topic’s End of Topic Enhanced Assessment.
Each Enhanced Mid-Topic Assessment consists of a total of 10 - 15 questions.
- Part A: Multiple-Choice Questions: There are 3 - 4 multiple-choice questions on each Mid-Topic Assessment.
- Part B: Open-Response Questions: This section will consist of all new questions and will cover the remaining question count.
- Part C: Griddable Response Questions: There are 1 - 2 griddable response questions, if applicable, on each Mid-Topic Assessment. If the content of the topic does not best align with the griddable response question type, then this question type does not exist on the topic’s Mid-Topic Enhanced Assessment.
