Our Master Math Practitioners are out working with teachers to transform classrooms all over the country, day in and day out. We're super proud of them, and want to help you get to know them a little better!
Hometown: Athens, GA
Experience: "I have been in education for 26 years. I have worked as a middle school teacher, high school teacher, coordinator for an NSF project, instructor for ES teachers seeking math endorsements on their teaching certificates, Teacher on Special Assignment for the Georgia Department of Mathematics, and a K-12 math coach for my district."
Why Carnegie Learning? "I believe in the message of the company - that students learn math through doing math. That belief underlies how we work with teachers as well. The only way they can change the way they teach math is to change the way they see and do math."
Fun Fact: "The only thing that surpasses my math geekiness is my complete lack of coordination."
"Janet was super knowledgeable and gave me many useful strategies that I'm excited to use in my classroom! She was patient and enthusiastic."
"Janet was engaging and kept our class excited about the concepts taught. She helped me to look at math in a way that is more creative! I will definitely use activities in my class. I like geometry more because of Janet!"
"This is one of the best PDs I have ever attended. It will change the way I teach! I am leaving with practical applications of standards that are hands-on that do NOT take a lot of time to prepare. Many of these strategies will translate to other math units. I would like for Janet to return very soon and teach classes on ALL the middle school math units."
