We have amazing people here at Carnegie Learning. We're constantly inspired by their passion, drive, expertise, and desire to make a difference. In the coming weeks, we'll be introducing some of them to you!
My name is Scott Spindler. I’m the Customer Support Lead here at Carnegie Learning. I grew up in a small town 60 minutes north of Pittsburgh called Cochranton. I now reside in Mars (a suburb of Pittsburgh) with my wife and daughter and our feline friend Nala. When I’m not supporting our awesome customers, you might find me checking out the latest technology at our local Apple Store or exploring all of the new and exciting things a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away….
Before joining Carnegie Learning 11 years ago, I spent 14 years at Prince George’s County Public Schools in Maryland. During my tenure with PGCPS, I was a classroom teacher at Benjamin Foulois Traditional Academy teaching 3rd, 4th, and 6th grade. I eventually became the school’s Technology Coordinator. Three years later, I joined the district’s Office of Instructional Technology as an Instructional Technology Coordinator. I thoroughly enjoyed my time teaching in PGCPS, but we decided to move back to the Pittsburgh area to be closer to family.
My main responsibility is to work with our customers to make sure all of our products work as they should. I’m also responsible for setting up new customers when they purchase our products. The majority of my day is spent speaking to customers on the phone, in chat, or through email.
What I enjoy most about my job is interacting with students, teachers, and parents to help them solve any issues they might have. Whether it’s working with a teacher to import a roster into Teacher’s Toolkit, troubleshooting a technical issue with an IT Director, or walking a student through the proper steps to a problem in MATHia, it’s a great feeling to know that even though I’m not teaching in a classroom anymore, I’m still teaching every day.
The best thing about working at Carnegie Learning is I still get to do what I love -- teach and work with technology on a daily basis. The difference is, now I get to work with people all across the country, supporting products that make a dramatic difference in how students learn mathematics.
Scott Spindler graduated from Clarion University of PA with a BS in Elementary Education in 1992. Prior to joining Carnegie Learning, Scott spent 14 years as a classroom teacher, school-based technology coordinator and an instructional technology coordinator for the Prince George's County Public School System in Prince George's County, MD. Scott is currently the Customer Support Lead at Carnegie Learning.
