Carnegie Learning is a leading publisher of core, full-year mathematics programs as well as supplemental and math interventions for middle school, high school, and postsecondary students. We develop instructional math solutions under the Carnegie Learning brand, including:
- Carnegie Learning® Adaptive Math Software Solutions, a supplemental solution for secondary mathematics comprised of Cognitive Tutor® software titles.
- Carnegie Learning® Math Textbooks, core math curricula that fosters collaborative learning in secondary classrooms.
- Carnegie Learning® Blended Math Curricula, a powerful combination of Carnegie Learning Textbooks and Cognitive Tutor software.
- Carnegie Learning® Developmental Math Software Solutions, remedial courses designed to prepare students for college mathematics.
Carnegie Learning® Math Curricula are based on more than two decades of research at Carnegie Mellon University on how students think, learn, and apply new knowledge. The results of this research formed the foundation for the development of Cognitive Tutor® software. Our unique cognitive modeling technology identifies weaknesses in a student's mastery of mathematical concepts and individualizes instruction to focus on areas where each student is struggling. This continual assessment of student knowledge is available immediately to teachers and students, resulting in ongoing formative assessment completely integrated with instruction.

Carnegie Learning® Solutions are helping nearly 500,000 students in over 2,600 schools across the U.S. succeed in math. Here's a snapshot of some of our partnerships with school systems across the country:
- In Louisiana Department of Education sponsored Math Catch-Up program students using Carnegie Learning Bridge to Algebra outperformed students in the control groups.
- Carnegie Learning was chosen to participate in the High School Transformation Project in Chicago Public Schools to help students pass Algebra and advance to graduation.
- Carnegie Learning Curricula has been implemented in high school reform programs in Los Angeles and Miami.
- The Kentucky state legislature funded a software pilot program in mathematics. All 12 schools using our curricula went from needing improvement to meeting AYP.
In numerous independent studies, Carnegie Learning solutions have consistently shown a significant effect on student learning outcomes resulting in improved academic achievement in mathematics. In fact, effect sizes consistently range from 0.3 to 1.2 SD. The What Works Clearinghouse considers effect sizes greater than .25 to be of practical significance.
