Several Iowa School Districts Use Carnegie Learning Curricula to Solve AYP Math Dilemma
When the administrators of the Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency in Iowa decided to tackle the task of improving their student's achievement in math, they knew they had an enormous challenge in front of them. The consortium opted to use the addition of technology to help each and every one of their students succeed.
As part of the area's math project, they used E2T2 funding sources to implement Carnegie Learning® Algebra I and Carnegie Learning® Geometry in 16 school districts in Iowa. Teachers were trained to implement and teach the curricula, some with a blended approach of textbooks and Cognitive Tutor® software, some using the software only.
The results? In Algebra I, gains ranged between 7-36%. Geometry saw even more marked gains: 24-30%.
To read more about the results and the overall strategies of this project, please review the consortium's published document on our website.
