Featured Success Story: Students Thrive on Cognitive Tutor® Software
McMillan Magnet Center is a middle school in Omaha, Nebraska that hosts a mathematics and technology magnet program. To obtain qualified students from across the district, McMillan Magnet Center needed to draw students in with a curriculum that was unique and technology- driven. McMillan Magnet Center believed that Carnegie Learning® curricula would stand apart from other curricula being used in the district because the interactive instruction strengthens student conceptual understanding of mathematics by integrating adaptive learning technologies, formative assessment, mastery learning models, and rich problem solving activities.
The implementation of Carnegie Learning curricula resulted in students being motivated, voluntarily staying after school to work on math, and asking other subject teachers if they could go work in the math lab when their class work was done. Additionally, students learned to effectively work together.
The results so far? Results have shown that 95% of students taking 7th grade Honors Algebra advanced to 8th grade Honors Geometry, and 75% of students taking 7th-8th grade Algebra Plus advanced to 9th grade Honors Geometry.

Fall 2009 State Adoption Updates
We are excited about our participation in several current mathematics adoptions! Carnegie Learning® instructional materials are receiving positive evaluations and recommendations in states across the country. Many of these states will utilize custom Carnegie Learning® textbooks that align to state-specific content standards.
North Carolina: The State Board of Education in North Carolina is recommending the complete suite of Carnegie Learning® mathematics textbooks and Cognitive Tutor® Software to schools across the state for adoption through 2015! Following an extensive review of Carnegie Learning® Bridge to Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II programs, the Board recommended the materials for use as core curricula for 8th grade Math, Introductory Mathematics, Algebra I, Algebra II, & Geometry in North Carolina. Visit the North Carolina "In Your State" page for more information.
West Virginia: The West Virginia Instructional Materials Review Committee has performed an extensive evaluation of Carnegie Learning® instructional materials, including new West Virginia Edition Textbooks, approving our Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II curriculum materials as Primary Instructional Resources. The Committee also evaluated and approved our award-winning Cognitive Tutor® software for all subjects and algebra-readiness 8th Grade Math curriculum as Supplemental Instructional Materials. Materials are adopted for the 2010-2016 cycle. Visit the West Virginia "In Your State" page for more information.
Oregon: The Oregon Department of Education has adopted Carnegie Learning® Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II Textbooks and Cognitive Tutor® Software as basal curricula for use in high schools in the state through 2016 in the category of Mathematics, Grades 9-12. The adoption comes by recommendation following evaluation finding that the materials met and exceeded requirements to reflect the most current information and research and be well aligned to Oregon's academic content standards. By law, textbook materials are subject to rigorous review and must meet at least 80% of the overall established criteria in order to be approved by the State Board of Education for use in classrooms. Visit the Oregon "In Your State" page for more information.
Utah: Carnegie Learning® Bridge to Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II instructional materials are designated Recommended Primary during the 2009-2014 adoption based on recommendation and evaluation that they provide comprehensive coverage for course content and support U-Pass requirements. Visit the Utah "In Your State" page for more information.
Indiana: The Indiana State Review Committee has recommended Carnegie Learning® Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry for the 2010-2016 Mathematics Adoption in Indiana, including new Indiana Edition Textbooks.
