School Year Enhances Individualized Learning New Content and Features Support Teaching with Technology for Core, Supplemental, and Intervention Math Programs PITTSBURGH, PA, June 18, 2009 – Carnegie Learning, Inc., a leading publisher of innovative, research-based math solutions for middle school, high school, and post-secondary students, today released the 2009-2010 version of the Cognitive Tutor® Math Software which focuses on empowering teachers to integrate technology flexibly and effectively into their core curriculum and intervention implementations. The 2009-2010 release is available immediately and includes enhancements to the company’s full suite of math software solutions -- Cognitive Tutor® Bridge to Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. The most significant new features include: • Additional Algebra II units of instruction aligned to the objectives of Achieve, Inc. • New Instructor tools: o New Curriculum Browser – navigates available content from curricula level to individual problems o New Custom Curriculum Advisor – directs instructors as they build a customized sequence by flagging dependent units, redundant content, prerequisites for a constructed sequence, and offers an “Order for Me” option to automatically arrange selected units o Expanded Assessment Reports – provides Student Assessment Results and Class Assessment Reports by both problem and topic. In line with the goals of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act’s (ARRA) education stimulus plans, the Carnegie Learning’s 2009-2010 product release prepares students who struggle in Algebra as a gateway to graduation by emphasizing innovative, interactive software instruction and training teachers to effectively integrate technology into instruction. The programs also align with ARRA increased funding for Title I, IDEA, technology, and STEM initiatives to improve math and science instruction. In response to ARRA education funding, Carnegie Learning’s “math relief program” gives schools and districts with a critical need to improve achievement in secondary mathematics a three-year site license of the Cognitive Tutor® Math Software at a significant discount.
